About Dr. Duchicela

Our family practice is growing. We would like to welcome our new family pratitioner, Dr. Keegan Duchicela.

Dr. Keegan Duchicela grew up in rural Texas and attended high school at the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (Denton). He graduated Stanford University with a B.A. in Human Biology and a M.A. in Sociology. After completing medical school at the University of California San Francisco, he pursued specialty training in Family Medicine at O’Connor Hospital in San Jose.

Dr. Duchicela began working with Dr. Horvath in 2009. In his biography he wrote: "(I) saw in her someone who was truly dedicated to her patients. In an era of large group/medical center conglomerates, filled with paperwork, impersonal offices and never ending phone trees, she offered a more simple and personal approach to medicine."

Dr. Duchicela takes a similar approach with his patients - one based on courtesy and respect for a person’s health decisions. He specializes in providing continuing and comprehensive health care for the individual and family. While emphasizing preventative care and healthy lifestyles, he also takes care of more acute needs - coughs, colds, rashes, strains/sprains, cuts and more.

In addition to working with Dr. Horvath, Dr. Duchicela is also part-time faculty with the O’Connor Family Medicine Residency Program in San Jose. He is excited to have the opportunity teach (and learn from) some of the best and brightest family medicine residents coming through the ranks. Dr. Duchicela also serves on the Board of Directors for Cachamsi, a non-profit medical Spanish immersion program for health professionals in Riobamba, Ecuador. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children, playing soccer, and catching up on tech and health policy news.
