2021 UPDATE ON COVID 19 VIRUS

1. In our office, we do nasal swabs for exposure to COVID 19. Swabs are sent to laboratories so we can get accurate and reproducible results. We usually obtain results in 3-4 days, and we will contact patients when the test results arrive.

2. Testing for presence of immunity to COVID 19 virus is done in our office by IgG/IgM antibody testing. Results are avilable within 10 minutes.

COVID 19 antibody testing is covered by some insurances, but not all of them. We bill the insurance and if they do not reimburse us, the cost to the patient is $45.

3. Our office observes spacing of patients at 15 minute intervals between patients. Exam rooms are sterilized with UV lights and wipes in-between patients.

INFORMATION ON TELEMEDICINE

Even though telemedicine is becoming very popular, we do minimal amount of it. It requires a lot of time and it is not always accurate.

Patients have access to me almost 24 hours a day by phone or email, and I ask for pictures of injuries or rash, and if they are easily interpretable I may assist online, otherwise for accuracy, an office visit is generally recommended.

STARTING IN 2021, THE PRACTICE OF MEDICAL CARE IS CHANGING

We are heading for socialized and government-controlled medical care. BEEN THERE, DONE THAT (Grew up and practiced in a country with socialized medicine).

For that reason, I will remain in individualized private care. This means that I will take preferably private patients and a few PPO insurances.

Private visits will continue to be $95.

We continue seeing patients for acne and use cosmetic and acne lasers for our patients at the usual cost of $65. This service is heavily discounted and that is why we reserve it for our patients.

I greatly appreciate the loyalty of my patients, especially now when I see that the cost of insurance premiums makes some consider other options.

If you are a patient that went to that Emergency Care, please do not forget to ask the Emergency Care to forward your records to me.

In these challenging times, Dr. Horvath's non-profit has made arrangements to support those in need. Patients who cannot afford copays should advise us at the time of their visit, and Dr Horvath will waive their copay. For those who will require an office visit, appointments will be adequately scheduled to eliminate any risk of contact with other patients throughout the "shelter in place" (stay home) mandate.

In some cases, office visits can be done instead by phone or videoconferencing. Please contact us via our email address and request such a visit and provide you phone number.

The Saturday morning hours are usually for emergencies and sick children (from 9am to 11:30am).
